What I left out of my story:

we have talked a lot about bringing a dog into our life, and have always just left it that the right one would appear when the time was right. We know we would want to adopt/rescue, not buy from a breeder. The ambushed thing is mostly funny - and that’s mostly because we hadn’t talked about it at all very recently. I am not entirely closed to the idea, just not sure about this particular breed and the level of commitment and mental shifting involved. But, this dog needs a home, and I’m not 100% sure our home is the right one.

Robin (do-over) is giving me some amazingly detailed information that will help us make an intelligent decision. Thanks, Robin. You rock. We don’t take this lightly, and do not want to do anything on a whim that could hurt this dog or anyone else under our roof in any way.

We’ll be meeting him in about a half hour, and I have a long list of questions about his first six months on Earth. More will be revealed.
