k fed up

Feeling uncomfortably guilty for unfriending someone on FB this morning. The discomfort is not with having unfriended him, but with feeling any guilt about it at all. It’s a market customer whose friend request I should have ignored. He never interacts on the platform, but stands around at the market for hours each week, telling me the ways he thinks I should promote the market and questioning me about what I already do to promote it. He does this like it’s his job to question me. 

I love when people tell me how to do my job. I do appreciate people sharing ideas and contact info, and I know that I don’t have all the answers, but when the so-called advice is also accompanied by creepy references to my status updates – oh, that was when you couldn’t sleep, or oh, so that was the phone conference you were doing yesterday, or oh, that must be one of the things you forgot that made you so overwhelmed – and you’ve never interacted on the actual thread, it’s hard not to think of that person as a bit of a stalker.

The market is finished for the season, and I’ve been waiting for this day when I could unfriend him without then having to have a face-to-face conversation about it in the middle of my work day. I’m sure I’ll wind up having to have one eventually, and maybe he’ll show up at my other market again (that was fun! being told how to do it better TWO days a week instead of one!), but I guess I’ll cross that uncomfortable bridge when I get to it.

For now I’m going to go post more status updates about farts and my period and feel safer knowing I won’t be inappropriately ambushed with a thinly veiled reference to the post while I’m in the middle of a conversation with another customer about how to purchase food with SNAP benefits.

Yeah. That happened.
